Specialized Vocabulary: Childhood Nostalgia From A to Z 〰️
Project Overview
The objective of this project was to create a series of 26 alphabetical flashcards that contain a set of vocabulary words relating to a specific occupation or topic. My chosen topic was childhood nostalgia because everyone can relate to the unmatched feeling of nostalgia as something from your childhood rises back to the surface.
My goal for this project is to spread that feeling of joy and nostalgia through each and every card. Using a various number of analog media and carefully selected topics, each card will have its own way of connecting to the viewer.
Analog Research
By first working analog, there is a sense of freedom, where typography is no longer just letters, but a complex shape waiting to be constructed into something new.

Title Type: Handcrafted type
Card Title: Helvetica - Bold Oblique - 12 Pt
Card Information: Arial Narrow - Italic - 10/8 Pt
Footer Letter: Helvetica - Bold - 20 Pt
The typography in this project is built with Helvetica and Arial. Utilizing different point sizes and weights kept the design variable, yet simple. Even the handcrafted letterforms were loosely based on Helvetica.
Handcrafted Alphabet
The decision to create the whole alphabet using pencil toppers was the driving force for my entire project. While researching media to use for analog letterforms, I found a bag full of memories; A bag containing little characters that highlighted a childhood memory.
