Project Overview

The objective of this project was to create a new beverage brand of my choice. I was given free reign to create a beverage of my choice. It was allowed to be alcoholic, non-alcoholic, health-oriented, a soft drink, water, wine, etc. The one caveat is that it needed to come in some type of sustainable transporter/carrier/delivery packaging. My task was to establish the brand's name and identity design. The brand was intended to adhere to a clearly defined audience in a research-driven design process. The packaging was applied to three different varieties of the beverage. While the packages differ from each other, they still embody the same essence of the brand.

Initial Logo Sketches

A challenge I encountered early was having to come up with both a main logo, as well as an individual icon for each of the three flavors. All while maintaining a consistent system. It was after my initial sketching I decided to commit to a logotype.

Front + Back Labels

After deciding to include Californian icons and information on the back, I altered my approach to the frontal designs. I chose to incorporate the same Californian figure on both the front, and back labels.

The goal on the back was to give a little bit of story and vision for the brand. At the bottom of each label is an image with some historical context of California icons

Typography

Title Type: Georgia - Regular - 42 Pt

Banner Type: Georgia - Italic - 21 Pt

Other Front Label Type: Georgia - Italic - 11 Pt

Back Label Type: Georgia - Italic - 11 Pt

The typography in this project consists of one font, Georgia. I incorporated multiple stylistic decisions to account for this. That includes scaling, all caps, italics, etc.

Colors

When creating a beverage instilled with California spirit, my goal for the color palette was to integrate the Cali flag within the label.

Full Bottle Mockups

Carriers

No proper whiskey is complete without its carrier. While maintaining the feeling from each bottle in the packaging, new elements were added to create a system without becoming too repetitive.
